Hacking Family Shower

My friends and family sure do know how to spoil me. I had my second baby shower last weekend and again got a lot of great stuff. One of my favorite gifts from the shower was a hand-made Quiet Book for the boys to use at church when they are a little older. Does anyone remember having one of these when you were younger? It is a book with a bunch of fun activities in it. I remember one of my favorite ones was matching the shapes and colors to the correct spot. I used to love playing with it. My cousin was so sweet and made me one. I can not believe all the work she put into it. It will definitely be a treasured item in our house. Some of the other fun gifts we got were blankets, bibs, burp clothes, dinosaur toys, lots of cute books and some clothes.
My Aunt and cousins served a yummy lunch, we played lots of cheesy shower games, opened gifts and enjoyed each others company.

Canning Peaches

I helped my sister, Mariah, can some peaches last week. Read this post to find out what a good time we had. Ha :-)
I think I dislike canning so much since we always had to do it as kids and what kid wants to spend the last of their summer days inside a hot, messy house cutting up fruits and vegetables. Plus, I agree that bottled fruits and vegetables taste better than store bought, but not by that much.
However, don't fret all you lovers of canning, give me a year or two to forget about this experience and I'll be canning again.

First Baby Shower

I had my first baby shower this week. Two of my friends from my neighborhood hosted it and they did such a fantastic job. It was fun to be able to get together and I felt so loved that so many of my friends would come and shower me and the boys with gifts.

Opening Gifts

All the lovely guests.

And my two gracious hostesses, Natalie and Michelle. Thanks girls, I loved it!

Babies Room

Mike and I have been working hard to complete the babies room. We painted the walls mint green and light blue and put a chair rail up. It looks pretty good and goes great with the dinosaur bedding I bought. Here are a few pictures of the finished product.

Another project my sister, Rebecca, and I worked on while she was here was making some cute wall hangings for the room. I wasn't sure what to do with the walls, so I went online and looked to see what other people had done. I found some cute ideas and decided to try one out myself. I found some cute dinosaur clip art online, made copies and traced around them. Then I used paint and scrapbook paper and this is what I came up with.

The three decorations cost a grand total of about $10.00 (and that includes all my left over supplies). I'm pretty happy with the way they turn out. I painted the green one, Rebecca painted the blue one and we worked on the orange one together.
