Anne of Green Gables Series

I have been reading the Anne of Green Gables series. When I was younger I loved watching the movies when they would play on PBS, but I never read the books, so while I was at the library I decided to pick up the first book. I have been listening to the first three books on audio book while I have been driving around town. Megan Follows, who plays Anne Shirley in the movies, reads the books. She makes the characters come alive, so I am really enjoying listening to them. I just finished book three and I went to check out book four on audio book and they don’t have it. I checked and the have all the rest of the books on audio book, but for some reason not book four. I decided to check the book out from the library and it just hasn’t been the same. I listened to the first three books in like a week and I am only a chapter into book four and I have already had it for 5 days. I’m thinking about just skipping to book five so I can get back to listening to Megan Follows read them. :-) I just thought it was really weird, that they have all the books on audio book except book four. Nevertheless, I am really enjoying the books, so if you haven’t read them I would definitely recommend them. That Anne Shirley is quite the character.

Sunday Brunch

Brunch is seriously the greatest meal ever. Last week, we had our friends, the Taft’s, over for Sunday Brunch. It was so delicious. I LOVE brunch and all the food associated with it: fruit, sausage, cinnamon rolls, hash browns, orange juice, pancakes, milk, toast with jams and jellies, omelets, bacon, etc... I got a really yummy omelet recipe from my Aunt that is super easy to make. I made it for brunch and it was a smashing success.

15 eggs beaten
1 cups grated medium cheddar cheese
2, 4 oz cans diced green chilies

Beat eggs well. Stir in cheese and chilies and pour into greased 9 x 13” pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Do not over cook, but cook until eggs don’t jiggle when pan is moved. Serve with sour cream and salsa.

Valentine's Day

I am not one of those girls who make a super big deal out of Valentines Day. However, I do like to feel special. I am also not one of those girls who expect her husband to read her mind. I don't hint around or make suggestions. When I want something from Mike I usually tell him. So, at the beginning of 2008 I gave Mike a list of 5 things I wanted him to do when it came to the holidays, my birthday and our anniversary. The first item on the list had to do with Valentines Day. I told him and I quote, "For Valentines Day I don't need expensive flowers, dinner at a fancy restaurant or yummy candies/chocolates, what I want from you is a sweet note expressing your undying love for me." What I got was a beautiful letter from him telling me why and how much he loved me. It was perfect.

The four other items on the list have to do with my birthday, our anniversary, Christmas and sending me flowers. I was very pleased with how Valentines went so I hope the others go as well. :-)

Super Birthday!

This year is my Super Birthday. For those of you who don't know what a super birthday is, it is the year you turn the same age as the day on which you were born. I was born on the 29th and this year I am turning 29. I want to do something really fun this year. I told Mike I either want him to throw me a surprise party or I get to do whatever I want from my birthday and if that happens, I am going to be celebrating it the entire week before and after the 29th. :-) I'm not sure what I want to do yet. I would love to hear everyone's suggestions on what I should do for my Super Birthday or feel free to share what you did on yours. I still have a few months until my birthday, so hopefully by then I will have planned the ultimate birthday experience.

This is getting RIDICULOUS!

(Note: Since I have no job, I told Mike I would be in charge of clearing the driveway of all the snow this season. Big mistake on my part. I am getting tired of shoveling.)

I have had enough of the snow. I am soooo sick of it. I knew it was going to snow last night, and I knew it was going to snow a lot, but I didn’t realize they meant this.
Before

Yeah, when I opened the garage door this morning this was what was out there mocking me. I stood there for a minute dumbfounded; I mean how was I going to clear all this away with my little shovel. I told Mike to come out and help me and he said, “don’t worry about it, it will melt by tomorrow.” Yeah right! Lucky for me, I have some great neighbors and they came over and helped me. It took two snow blowers, and three shovels to clear all the snow away. I mean if I had to clear that all away with just my shovel I think I would still be out there.
